Great sci-fi read! This book is full of problem solving and creativity that is very engaging and fun to read. There is a whole lot of math and science, but it plays directly into, and makes possible, all of the most interesting problem solving. I didn't feel bogged down by the math, but I can understand where other readers might not like it. Though thoroughly enjoyable, I did have minor complaints with this book. Mostly, it was tough to read again and again about Watney messing up or his plans not working out. For every win the guy had, he had just as many setbacks. Yeah, that's how you get plot points, but I just needed the man to catch a break. Also, very minor, there are a lot of named characters back on Earth, and I couldn't quite keep all the names straight - but I also didn't try very hard since it didn't totally matter. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.
