Loved it. I really have nothing bad to say, except that damn these characters drink a lot of coffee and smoke a lot of cigarettes. Feels justifiable though when there's a demon in your house. The pacing of this book is phenomenal. Creepy things start happening right away, there's not much of a slow build up. The build up is there, but it's well done, and it definitely doesn't leave anything to be desired. The characters all make sense, they all have relevant motives and understandable reactions to each other. They're well-written which allows the reader to buy in, to care about the outcome. The piece about Karl's daughter seemed a bit out of place, but also gave great background knowledge to the character. Overall, I very much enjoyed The Exorcist, could see myself reading it again, and would recommend it to others.
